Trying to think of a idea has always seemed the hardest part of the whole process for me. I also find it difficult to think of a project which can be realised within the time frame as I normally get carried away with grand ideas.
So when it was time to think of an idea for my final project, I was racking my brain to come up with something. Anything. With a background in Architecture, it would be a natural progression to choose something within the field. However, I felt like a change, and having a great interest in roller derby I thought I could involve it somehow. Originally, I was thinking maybe I could do data visualisations for crowd audiences, as on average 1200 people attend a bout. I thought it would be interesting to see how roller derby impacts on people’s lives and why they would come to watch a group of women skate around an oval track playing a full contact sport in hot pants and fishnets.
However, before I could wrap my head around how I might form a project using this idea, another one popped up from nowhere. Ok, maybe not nowhere, it came about during a conversation at work. And since then I’ve been mulling over it and I think it’s a goer. I just hope my processing skills are up to the challenge.
